Our Unique Approach

We recognize that we are teaching YOU the knowledge and skills of training your dog, so cater to YOUR learning style and keep the way dogs learn in mind as well. Most classes ignore the human component and focus only on the dog.

Our intention is to help you train your dog. The process will help to build a solid relationship between you and your dog.

We also offer "train the trainer" workshops for dog trainers who train people to train their dogs.

 What to Expect

*Dog classes are private and semi-private which means only one to three people and dogs in class. This is to make sure you are getting the one on one attention you need to help your dog learn. Workshops without dogs may have more.

*
Each class, your instructor will give an overview of what will be covered during class, then will teach it to you, and then summarize what you have done.

All Four of Your Learning Styles Are Used:

1. information will be presented in printed form and a demonstration will be provided (visual learning)

2. then you will be given verbal instructions (auditory learning)

3. and you will be given a chance to practice what you have seen (kinesthetic learning or learning by doing).

4. At the end of class, you will be asked some questions to reflect on what you did (cognitive learning or thinking about learning).

*You will also receive handouts to take home to enhance your memory of the knowledge and skills covered.

*You are welcome to ask questions and take notes anytime during class. Journaling has proven to be useful for some owners so they can see that their dog is progressing and to document tasks to work on.

The instructor will suggest approaches and techniques that may work for your dog’s learning style as well. You likely know your dog better than the instructor does and you are looking for the best ways to help him learn.
